I found many projects in this course to be both enjoyable and very educational. With this said the project I gained the most knowledge from and had the most fun with was unit 4 digital video and adobe premier. This project tied in almost every piece of information I had learned from this semester. I found myself having no trouble at all using the software and the skills I had picked up from other the other units. I was also very proud of my final video and all of the editing I did to accomplish the final product.
There are many useful skills I will take away from this class. I am now equipped to use Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, and Premier Adobe software. These programs will be of great use to me in my future career developments. I have also gained a lot of problem solving skills due to the complicated nature of the software. These problem solving skills will be of use to me with any career path with I so choose to take. I plan on working at an advertising agency in the sales department. I have always wanted to work in the sales department of an advertising industry so, this class only reassured me that I am on the right path with my career aspirations.
This course covered quite a large amount of information and there are no skills that I wished I would have learned that I did not. I found the tutorials to be very useful, the information was presented in an easy to follow format. I also found the links for the creative commons licensed music to be highly useful when working with the audio portions of the software. I enjoyed this class and have learned a great deal that will help me with the rest of my educational and professional career path.

Final Video Project
Creating art is theme of my final video story. Art is what I am most passionate about, what brings me the most joy, and what gives my life meaning. My first draft had an entirely different theme than my final does. My first draft was a story of a trip I took to San Francisco. Although I also was passionate about my previous theme I knew after receiving feedback that a change was necessary. I had previously filmed vertically rather than horizontally which had a damaging effect to my project. I shot all of my footage in San Francisco so I knew there was no way I could possibly re-shoot. Although starting from scratch seemed daunting I knew I was up for the challenge. After receiving feedback I was well equip to create a flawless final draft.
I began my video with a title sequence and some accompanying audio from the creative commons section of Soundcloud (Morning dew by idaydream). After carefully selection I choose this audio because I knew it would set the perfect stage for the story I was about to tell. When creating my title I first made a title with just the phrase “My True Passion” and then I used the pinwheel effect to bring in the word art. I learned this technique from the Animating title sequence premier tutorial. After the second part of my title appeared I used the cross dissolve effect to create a smooth transition into my video recording. I also used the exponential fade video effect to gradually reduce the music behind my title sequence.
My first video describes how much my art means to me. I made sure to shoot horizontally to allow my views eyes to be naturally guided as a scanned the wall. I also went into detail about the escape art provides for me and how it takes me away from reality. My goal with this first video was to give an overall impression of the type of art I create and its role in my life. At the end of this first video clip I used a iris box effect to transition into my next video clip.
My next video clip shows a up close view of a piece I created from my ninth year of high school. I choose this piece because it is one of my personal favorites and the escape from reality that I previously referred to. This piece is also unique because I used an etching technique to create it. I then shot another up close frame of another piece that I created more recently. I wanted a diverse range of my art to be shown in my project which is why I choose a piece that I painted. At the end of this second video clip I used a slide to transition into my final clip showing a drawing, this the third technique I use for my art. I also added in a conclusion to summarize my entire theme. Finally I added in a credits section with a cross dissolve effect in the beginning and a dip to white effect at the end. I also used the same audio from the beginning of the video with an exponential fade at the end of the audio. I am very pleased with my final product and I believe it shows off all that I have learned in this Com210 course.

Draft Story
When deciding on a topic for my final video story I knew I wanted to choose a topic that I am passionate about. I choose to highlight the most memorable parts of a trip I took to San Francisco California to visit my boyfriend. During my trip I took several pictures and videos to record my experiences. I decided my intro should showcase the city skyline. I used the cross dissolve tool for my title to avoid an abrupt start to my video. Next I placed another image in with the cross dissolve tool which showed the blue angels flying over a Victorian style building. The experience of seeing the Blue Angels fly all over the city was incredible and I believe this image and the following image capture the moment perfectly. I then included a trip we took to get out of the busy city for a little while. We decided to take a drive over the Red Woods Reserve. The reserve was absolutely beautiful and was a great escape from the city. I used the cross dissolve tool at the beginning and end of the video to create a smooth flow to my story. I also included narration of myself describing how magical the forest was. Finally I added another title in the beginning to make the story easy to follow. Then I included an image using the cross dissolve tool showing me and my boyfriend, Tag, enjoying the hike we were on. Next I added in another video I took during our trip of us walking through the forest and added in my boyfriend interpretation of the forest. I had some more images I wanted to showcase in my story to show off San Francisco and all of its beauty. I used several different effects as transitions in between each photograph. These effects are in the order of cross dissolve, wipe, barn doors wipe, and fade to black. After piecing all of my footage together I found a piece of audio I could use for the background on the creative commons section of sound cloud. The track I choose was a smooth melody titled morning dew by idaydream. I added the audio and used exponential fade from the audio transitions in the effects panel to make sure the sound was not abrupt. I ended my story with a credits title to credit myself, Tag, and the source of the music. I am pleased with the way all of the pieces to my story came together. The story perfectly showcases my trip and how wonderful of a city San Francisco is.

Final Audio Story
When choosing a topic for my audio story I knew I wanted to pick something I hold very close to my heart. In addition I also wanted to pick a topic that accurately represented where my life is currently and what is important to me. With this said, I choose to tell the story of my experience at Washington State University so far. I wanted to highlight the life I have built for myself here. I began drawing out an outline of the main points I wanted to make. These points included the way I felt when I first arrived as a freshman, the way that I view the school, and the people that have influenced me the most. This outline helped me come to the conclusion that the perfect people to include in my story are my closest friends that I met at Washington State University. After interviewing them about what their favorite part of being a cougar is I had the perfect material to add to my story. I then began the editing process on audition. I started by piecing all of my clips together. Then I thought music to accompany the audio would capture my listeners. I visited the creative commons portion of sound cloud to find music that was not copyrighted. After listening to numerous tracks I found one that had a nice mellow sound to introduce and conclude my own audio clips. The song I choose can be found using this link: (https://soundcloud.com/geomystery/peace). After adding the music I knew I needed to create an even flow in between the clips. I used the fade tool to accomplish this. I also played with the music volume bar to see if changing up the volume towards in the and the beginning would complement the sound. I also lowered the volume during the time one of my friends spoke because her audio was louder than the rest of the audio. I did this is make sure the sound was pleasing and flowed well. I also added in music in between each friends part of the interview and used the fade tool to make sure the sounded blended well together. This helps make my story more cohesive and clear to follow for the listener. My final edit was using the razor tool to remove any unnecessary pauses or filler words such as “um and like” to make the audio sound more professional. After adjusting these controls I finally had an audio that I was proud of. I believe this audio story has a strong narrative that accurately tells the story of my life here at Washing State University and the people I care about the most.

Final Logo
My subject of my blog is myself so thinking about a logo to represent myself was a difficult process. I started by using my sketchbook to draft some ideas. I started with circular and round I knew I wanted a very clean and sharp design. I also wanted my logo to show the type of person I am and the way I see the world. With this said I finally decided that my logo should represent an important ideal I hold close to my heart. I have included the phrase “elevate your mind”. This is a way of life to me and I incorporate it in my thinking every day. I believe it is important to always try and see the world from new perspective. After reading the critiques from my classmates I realized some alterations that needed to be made on my logo. The main criticism I received was that my image needed more complexity and balance. I choose to use vector triangles as the shapes for my logo because they provide a simplistic shape to accompany my complex phrase. I made these vector triangles from a tutorial I found on YouTube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfqGs8zmA8A. This tutorial clearly explained how to evenly make a rectangle by holding down the shift key and then highlighting two end points of the triangle. After I highlighted the points a chose the arrange option from and then selected the “both” option from the drop down menu. This action created the even vector triangle shape. I used this process to create the many triangles in my image. I also created a blue rectangle using the rectangle tool. I held down shift to make sure my rectangle was proportionate to create a more balanced frame for the triangles. I choose this color scheme because it coordinates with the colors of the theme of my blog and creates a unified look. I played a lot with the font for my phrase and landed on one that made the text stand out from the background. I also made the text white to compliment the black triangle in the back of my image. With these alternations my logo is much more complex and balanced. I believe my logo accurately represents my blog and the person I am.
